Parental Control
Protecting children from internet content has become a nightmare these days — but we have an immediate solution. Our network is partially controlled to prevent these issues, and we provide a free content-control service: just let us know and we'll gladly help. IMPORTANT: parental control over your connection is entirely your responsibility. The internet contains content that's offensive to minors; we help you prevent access for free, but final supervision belongs to parents.
Content Filtering
We run systems that constantly scan our network for forbidden content — pages and sexual content involving minors, abuse, and other content regulated by Colombia's Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (Law 679/2001 and Decree 1524/2002). We execute initiatives to protect, prevent, block, combat and report exploitation, hosting, use, publication and dissemination of images, texts, documents, audiovisual material and any improper use of communications media.
Shared Plans (Reuso)
Shared bandwidth, in short, means sharing the link. The greater the bandwidth, the lower the sharing ratio. Our current sharing ratio is minimal (0.36:1), so it's not a problem for our customers. A shared internet line splits bandwidth between users; a dedicated line keeps the contracted speed at all times.
Can I increase my speed?
Yes. You can request a 2-calendar-day test before changing or upgrading your plan as an existing customer. The change takes up to 24 hours. IMPORTANT: you must call back to cancel this test before the 2 days end, otherwise the test speed will be kept and charged starting on day 3.
Can I downgrade my plan?
Yes, you can downgrade with no problem. The process can take up to 24 hours. It costs $25,000 COP on your next bill.
What if my service is not working?
If you're an existing customer and your service is down, we credit the disconnected time to your account by moving your billing date. If the outage is our responsibility, we cover the disconnection time. If it's due to natural causes or external factors beyond our control, we'll repair the damage but the cost is yours. Our technicians will inform you immediately of any extra resource costs.
Symmetrical speeds
Symmetrical speeds are equal for both download and upload. These plans are DEDICATED and supervised by our 24/7 monitoring systems, used mainly by businesses that constantly move large amounts of data.
How is the WiFi service installed?
We install the antenna and the network cable to a point previously agreed with the customer, which can connect directly to a computer or device with an RJ45 network card. If you require WiFi indoors, you must provide the corresponding router; our technicians can recommend equipment. Router installation has an extra cost of $20,000 COP depending on the package.
How do I know if I have coverage?
We recommend contacting us first, since coverage points — even if green on the map — can vary drastically due to buildings between you and our towers. Send your exact home/office location to our WhatsApp using https://geo.it4duty.co — with that information we can validate your real availability.
Is there an installation fee?
Yes, there's an installation cost on the 6 Mbps and 10 Mbps plans. Plans of 15 Mbps and above include FREE installation, with a 12-month service permanence clause. In some cases the install cost exceeds what we usually budget for; if that's your case, you'll be told before any installation or process begins.
Is there a permanence period?
There's no permanence period for our 6 Mbps and 10 Mbps customers. Permanence only applies to plans of 15 Mbps and above. We have speeds up to 100 Mbps for specific clients. The minimum permanence in this range is one year of service.
Which antennas to use?
We use 5 GHz band antennas, so the customer's antenna must operate on that band and have AC 2x2 MIMO technology. We typically install Ubiquiti LiteBeam AC GEN2 Airmax antennas. If you already own one of these or any Ubiquiti antenna, let us know — that may grant a discount of up to $15,000 COP/month on your service.
What speeds can I get?
The actual speed can only be determined after linking from your home or office to our towers. The answer depends on signal strength, weakness, or distance. We've had cases where customers buy higher-quality antennas and reach up to 100 Mbps on our network; in those cases we apply a $15,000 COP/month discount.
Do prices change after installation?
NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. If an agent or collector tells you a different price than the contracted one, please report it on our WhatsApp or website immediately. WE DO NOT AUTHORIZE PRICE INCREASES ON EXISTING SERVICES. Your bill will only increase if you owe money or if you request additional services.
What if I'm late on a payment?
Payments must be punctual: your billing date is the same day your link was installed. If you don't pay on time, you may be charged a late fee of $25,000 COP added to your bill, which must be paid in full before reconnection.
Service Antennas
Our antennas are installed on loan (COMODATO) for as long as you have the service. The antenna has two essential components: 1) Antenna and 2) PoE (which provides power and connectivity to your router). We cover any "factory" damage. If the customer allows damage from electrical issues at home, accidental water exposure, or carelessness, replacement costs are on the customer.
Permanence Clauses
Our permanence clauses lower the installation cost and apply to hard-to-reach customers (mountains, inaccessible terrain) or those in cities near our HQ (Tuluá). They guarantee customer permanence in exchange for not paying installation. If a customer cancels before the agreed term, they must pay the proportional remainder of the clause.
Port forwarding
Internet Rural Tuluá does not allow port forwarding. Past requests resulted in DDoS attacks, so we decided not to allow port openings under any circumstances. If you need to forward ports for a camera system or a server at home or business, please look for another connectivity solution: we don't provide that on our network.
Can I share my internet with my neighbor?
NO. You cannot share your contracted internet with your neighbor. This is a policy to prevent misuse of your line — you don't know what your neighbor browses or does with your line, and external users tend to consume excessive bandwidth. If we detect this on any customer, it triggers immediate disconnection and removal of service.
Visit and repair charges
As a courtesy Internet Rural Tuluá gives you one free visit within 90 days after your INITIAL INSTALLATION. After using this courtesy or once 90 days pass, visit prices vary from $25,000 COP and up depending on the repair or assistance required. To avoid these charges, you can bring the equipment to our offices for replacement or repair.
VPN connections
VPNs have become very popular and many customers who work remotely or use them to access content from other countries do so in many ways. Understand that the moment you connect through a VPN ("Virtual Private Network"), you leave our network entirely — your connection with us becomes only a transport medium. We can't provide support on content or speed when you're on a VPN.
